When the long-period W-NW swell lines up with light E-ESE offshore and a mid-to-high falling tide the sandbars groom hollow, powerful peaks.
On smaller summer southswells the wave faces are softer and more forgiving.
The mouth of Salmon Creek creates a sandbar and strong rips - expect steep paddles, submerged rocks near the north end, and a higher seasonal shark presence that raises consequence on bigger days.
