Mystics

Mystics is the Minnamurra Beach surf spot on the Killalea coast, a favourite local wave that stretches from a rocky headland to the volcanic outcrop and forms part of the National Surfing Reserve. It mixes beach peaks with a left-hand point section over sand and rock, giving the break a more serious surf identity than the surrounding scenery. Lineup Insights

The Wave

West-northwest offshore winds, southeast to south swell, and mid tide on the rise are the cleanest windows.

The beach is not patrolled, is prone to rips, and has strong tidal flows at the river mouth.

Lineup Guide

Direct access is via Killalea Drive to the beach car park and the short, steep Mystics Walking Track.

If you are coming from the Minnamurra side, James Oates Reserve gives river-mouth access, but the crossing is a swim and not the practical option.

Crowd pressure is usually light, but the spot can handle plenty of swell and has sharks reported.
